Slava’s Snow Show

They say it is a cross between Cirque du Soleil and Blue Man Group.

Slava was the original Cirque’s clown genius. He is also the genius of this spectacle. I’m not really sure what to call it. Art in motion…comedy…musical production…snow storm… lots and lots of SNOW.

Check out the YouTube clip to get an idea of what the show feels like and then call the Adrienne Arsht center for tix. Quickly. This show sold out in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Barcelona, Madrid and London so expect tickets to sell out quickly here too.

MiAMi SuCKS

That’s the mnemonic to remember how to get back to the Beach when you are at the bus station downtown and you don’t care which bus you ride, you just want to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE.

This little gem comes to us from Lil Pony, who writes a entertaining blog about Miami Dade Transit.

Quote:
When you are waiting at Omni Station, do you have trouble remembering which busses go to the Beach? It’s simple! Any bus whose letter designation can be found in the phrase “MIAMI SUCKS” will take you to the beach. The M, A, S, C, and K all go there. U and I don’t count.

Interama: Miami and the Inter-American Dream

What to do, what to do….

While we all wait patiently for our faithful friend Bacardi to sponsor another fabulous event, lets get some culture in us, eh?
There are a number of interesting options at the various museums and art centers around South Florida.

One to check out this week is Interama: Miami and the Inter-American Dream at the Historical Museum of Southern Florida.

Walk into a re-creation of Interama—Miami’s futuristic fair of the Americas from the 1960s. Under development for decades, Interama was never built, but captured the imagination of planners, architects and public officials during an era when Miami increasingly perceived itself as a hemispheric crossroads.

Sounds interesting. And I can’t help but chuckle over the line, “Under development for decades, Interama was never built…” Some things never change.

Interama is on display until Jan 2009 at the museum. Now don’t going using that as an excuse to put it off until later. You know we will have more than enough activities coming up in the next months to keep us all busy until the new year.

Transportation is easy. The museum is located inside the Miami Dade Cultural Center next to Government Center Station. Any bus that goes downtown to the Government Center Station will get you there quick and easy.

OK, maybe not quick and easy, but you’ll get there eventually. And with a story to tell, no doubt.

I have returned!

You know how like when you wake up from a deep sleep and then you look down and realize that while you were sleeping someone came and cut off all your arms and your legs and you’re like “Fuuuuuuuuuuuck dude, I needed those.” and you’re like “This sucks. Now what am I supposed to do?” and you want to sit up and go find the bastards who did this and tell them to put your arms and legs back, but you can’t…because you can’t sit up, you can’t move, you can’t do anything except just sit there and stare and curse because you don’t have any arms or legs… and all the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

It was exactly like that. That is exactly what it was like the day I woke up and saw that my computer had died. I was in shock for a long time, not knowing what to do. Without a computer I can’t do my job. Is it all over, just like that?

Knit pickers will pipe up and taunt me with “It didn’t “die”. You KILLED it!”

I will have you know, my beloved Powerbook died of natural causes.

Water is natural.

Ergo, it died of natural causes when I flooded it with water.

I have been offline since the wonderful Aqua Girl parties in May. In fact, my Powerbook died of natural causes halfway through Aqua Girl. I never got to finish the job :-( And it was a good one.

I have a new Toshiba laptop, I have serious Mac withdrawls, but most importantly I am making preparations to get back to work at Napkin Nights by the end of the month. In the coming days I will also be working on updating this blog and SobeStreets to bring everything up to date.

I look forward to entertaining you all again with my inane mutterings. I do so miss you all :-) and I see from the stats that this little blog ‘o mine has been having quite a party without me! Blast! Why am I always left out of the fun bits?

Soon my friends, soon we will be together again.

Aqua Girl 08 - Aqualicious Pool Party at the Surfcomber Resort.
Aqua Girl pool party

I think this is the best party I have seen yet in Miami. Could have used a few guys, but whatever. heh heh

Seriously though, the pool at the Surfcomber was PACKED. I would guess there was easily three times as many people there for Aqua Girl than there was for WMC. I was in awe. Amazing turnout. I wish I was a lesbian because there were some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Wow.

My one and only gripe: no shade. Anywhere. For WMC there were lots of places to get out of the sun and cool off a bit. For Aqua Girl the weather was much hotter but there wasn’t any place to escape. I didn’t last barely 30 minutes before I had to call it a day because I was so over heated. And you know you don’t fuck around with our sun when your body says it’s time for a break.

Keep in mind i am the one who likes being hot. I am the one who doesn’t use A.C. in her apartment because even the lowest setting is too cold for me. And I couldn’t take the heat. If there was shaded areas I could have kept working but there was nothing.

I am so disappointed because this was such an awesome fucking party. I could have spend hours working it and still not covered half of the people there.

Boo hiss! :-(

My only consolation is that there were hella lotta other photographers there so hopefully everyone got as many pictures as they like.

When the link is ready at Napkin Nights I will update this post. Then you will be able to view the pics bigga.
Until then, enjoy the little view…

Aqua Girl 08:

Havana Nights at Nikki Beach and Club Nikki with DJ Dezrock and Miss M showcased all the finest Miami has to offer: gorgeous women, hot, steamy temperatures and sexy salsa rhythms to get the hips moving.

The Aqua Girls took over the Penrod complex with parties both downstairs in Nikki Beach and upstairs in Club Nikki. My new favorite DJ played a mix of the best in salsa and merengue blended with a little house music.
