Bacardi B-Live 2008 Pics

PHOTOS – Bacardi B-Live 2008 at Bayfront Park – Sat Apr 18

I’m still getting a lot of people who are searching for B-Live pictures in the search engines. See people, this why when you see someone taking pictures you should go up to them and ask “OMG! Who are you shooting for!?!?” Would save you a lot of time.

You can find my photos from the B-Live event on the Napkin Nights website:
http://miami.napkinnights.com/pics/view_album.php?id=4615

There are 200 pictures in that gallery, so you should find a little something for everybody.
Here are some previews for you:

Everyone had a great time. The place was packed, there was Bacardi EVERYWHERE, drinks were reasonable ($7) and enough bars to keep the lines manageable. The toliets were another story… but they always are.

You know I’m not a big house music fan, but I still enjoyed the performances by Dave Navarro, DJ Scribble (his name should be DJ Scratchy), DJ Irie, Cedric Gervais (who is kinda cute), Deep Dish, Groove Armada, CircX performers, stilt walkers, naked girls in body paint, acrobats…
oh you know, just the usual Saturday afternoon party in Miami. Check out the pics. You’ be glad you did.

Soldier Ride Revisted

Soldier Ride – Feb 2006 – Wounded Warrior Project

On Feb 7, 2008 I blogged about my experience photographing the annual awareness raising effort for wounded military men, Soldier Ride, in Feb 2006 in South Beach. Now, two months later I still get hits each week from people who are searching for information on Soldier Ride.

It is for those of you looking that I have updated the photo gallery to include all of the photos I shot that day. The old gallery of just a few shots is still available on SobeStreets.

And now you have the option of seeing everything from that day in the new slide show. There are 195 photos there. The link takes you to the thumbnail page. Click on any thumbnail to start the slide show. All images in the slide show are large size (640px on the long side). Like this one:

I confess I wimped out and used Photoshop to make the slideshow instead of coding it myself like I normally do, but dude, 195 hand-coded pages is a HELLA LOTTA pages to write. Forgive me. If the web stats show that this is still a popular gallery then I will suck it up and code it all out properly.

Until then please enjoy the Photoshop convenience.

I put ALL the photos from that day into the slide show instead of picking a few like I did for the original gallery because if there is one thing I have learned over the years it is what I (the photographer) think is a good pic and what you (the end user) think is a good pic are rarely one and the same. So I put them all up there.

If you were there that day and you want any images for your own use please feel free to save as many as you like.

Bacardi B-Live 2008

The Bacardi B-Live event was as great as I expected it to be.
Dave Navarro was there…

…and he was making friends…

I counted just over a gazillion people in attendance.

I had fun, even though I am still sick. Yeah, still sick from last week. The pics are being processed now. As always, the carnage will be uploaded on Napkin Nights Miami and Talk Nightlife.
Do check it out.

I survived Conference!

I survived! I got through my first Winter Music Conference experience in one piece. Conference kicked my ass, both mentally and physically. There was non-stop activities for 6 days, lots of running from place to place, There were a lot of frustrations and a lot of “OMG I can’t believe I actually get paid to do this shit!” moments, and I can’t wait to do it all over again.

It was a great learning experience and I am happy I did it. I got to meet a lot of wonderful people and had a really great time, even when things like waiting 55 minutes for the South Beach Local (quarter bus) to arrive were driving me insane. Came thisclose to getting jumped Friday night when taking the S bus home when two guys cornered me in the back of the bus. Saw the same two guys getting busted on Lincoln Road the next night.

I had an absolutely fabulous time at the Club World Awards at Set.

Enjoyed all the lovely eye candy strutting around the pool parties.
OMG, I think I’m in love.

Somehow managed to not get ANY sun myself (sunblock really does block the sun!).

Although I am happy so many music fans came to Miami for this event, I myself totally do not understand this genre. It all sounds the same to me and it seems rather repetitive and boring.

As many people know, I listen to a lot of Latin music; salsa, merengue, bachatta stuff llike that. Music that you really dance to. Music that makes your body move.

But this so called “dance music”… there isn’t any dancing! People just jump up and down. This shouldn’t be called dance music, it isn’t even suited for people. It is more appropriate for rabbits to hop to.

And then it hit me. Oh my god! That must explain the bunny at the National pool party!

You can see all the pics from WMC at Napkin Nights Miami and Talk Nightlife.

I hope you enjoy.
